AIFC 2 - Abogados 4
Interesante partido el disputado el sábado en Munabe entre AIFCy el equipo del colegio de abogados de Bergara.
AIFC jugó con su uniforme habitual, aunque con los números cambiados por un problema logístico con las equipaciones (Tim no faltes nunca...), mientras que los abogados jugaron de amarillo. El árbitro del partido, Mr. Tony, lucía su habitual uniforme negro con cigarrillo.
El partido comenzó con un mayor control de los abogados, sin dar opción a los británicos, que llegaban con facilidad al área defendida por John, cuya defensa se veía impotente para alejar el peligro del área.
El primer gol de los abogados llegó en un robo de balón tras un saque de puerta en corto. El centro desde la derecha no pudo ser atajado por la estirada de John, y el balón quedó en los pies del delantero que remató a placer.
AIFC no consiguió crear oportunidades de gol en la primera parte, debido a la falta de posesión del balón y a no poder llegar a la portería contraria con el control del mismo.
Tras el descanso, el partido tomó otro cariz, y AIFC comenzó a controlar el balón en campo contrario, lo que posibilitó las oportunidades de Lucas delante del portero rival.
En un balón largo peinado por Aisa, el balón cayó en el área, y Michael, tras un gran sprint, batió la meta de los abogados con un fuerte tiro cruzado. Merecido premio al esfuerzo de los británicos, que celebraron con júbilo el empate.
El partido se volvió loco con ocasiones para los 2 equipos, pero fue el equipo de los abogados quien volvió a adelantarse en el marcador, con un buen control al borde del área y un golazo de vaselina, que entró lamiendo el larguero de la portería defendida por Luisan (cómo me dolió....).
El tanto dejó helada a la grada (no le hacía falta mucho, porque jodééééé, que frío....), pero AIFC se rehizo y consiguió el empate gracias a un claro penalty por empujón sobre Lucas, que casi apareció colgado en la tribuna. El penalty lo transformó Marco, engañando al meta rival.
A raíz del penalty se vivieron momentos de tensión, con algunos piques entre la delantera de AIFC y la defensa de los abogados, que gracias a la calmada intervención de los misters, no llegó a más.
Los abogados vieron el partido difícil, y dieron entrada a sus mejores jugadores, con lo que consiguieron meter presión a AIFC. Fruto de esta presión, llegó la polémica del partido, en un balón dividido entre el delantero Josetxo y el rocoso Martin, que el referee consideró rigurosamente como penalty. El propio Josetxo marcó la pena máxima y adelantó a los abogados por tercera vez.
Con el marcador en contra, AIFC adelantó lineas en busca del empate, permitiendo a los delanteros de los abogados jugar al contraataque, que casi siempre acababan cortados por la defensa británica.
El cuarto gol de los abogados llegó en una falta bien sacada desde la banda, que cruzó el área local y llegó a pies de Josetxo que cerró el marcador con el 2-4 definitvo.
Destacable la "camaradería" demostrada entre Brian y algún jugador rival, que querían quedar fuera del terreno para "intercambiar opiniones". Gracias a la rápida intervención del referee, evitamos el conflicto (thanks Tony).
En definitiva, partido serio, ante un equipo que de abogados tenía poco.... (porque nunca he visto abogados tan jóvenes... y en Bergara viven 4 gatos.... ) que presentaron un equipo muy competitivo.

The first defeat of the season came against a strong South American Selection containing many players from the Mundialito. Despite holding a 3-1 and 4-2 lead, the Isles succumbed to pressured attacking late in the game.

AIFC 2 - 1 Dream team
A mixed performance by the Isles against a young team of mainly fubito players none-the-less led to a win thanks to a brace of goals by Lucas. On a wet pitch that made control and passing difficult the team struggled to find a rythmn, but were quite solid enough to restrict the scoring opportunities of the opposition. AIFC 9 - 3 El Equipo de Titi
The improvements in the play of the Isles was shown in this game when AIFC had a comfortable win in a moderately bad-tempered match. Two goals each from Mike, Marco, and Lucas provided the backbone of the win, allowing even for the team to miss the traditional penalty.The stand out performance of the game came from Luisan. Who volunteered to play for the opposition, only to concede 9 for the first time in his career. Conceding nine against the Isles. Whatever next!
Las mejoras en el juego de las Islas se mostró en este juego cuando AIFC tenía una cómoda victoria en un partido moderado de mal humor. Dos goles de Miguel, Marcos, Lucas y siempre que la columna vertebral de la victoria, permitiendo incluso que el equipo pierda la pena tradicional.El destacan el rendimiento del juego vino de Luisan. Que se ofrecieron voluntarios para jugar por la oposición, sólo a conceder nueve por primera vez en su carrera. Conceder nueve contra las Islas. Todo lo que viene!

AIFC 4 - 1 Argentina
Just to prove that lightening does strike twice (even if Mike does not), the Isles returned their second successive 4 - 1 result against Argentina. A controlled first have led to a 2 goal advantage, with Marco and Peter getting the goals.With the substitution of James through injury, the second half became less structured, but James had already added a third (thanks Urtzi) before Dave D rounded off the performance with a goal to cancel out the one he had given away at the other end.
All in all, another good performance.
Sólo para demostrar que un rayo no cae dos veces (aunque Mike no), las Islas volvió su segunda 4 a 1 contra el resultado de la Argentina. Un estudio controlado primero han llevado a una ventaja de la meta 2, con Marco y Pedro conseguir los objetivos.Con la sustitución de James por lesión, la segunda mitad se convirtió en menos estructurados, pero James ya había añadido una tercera parte (gracias Urtzi) antes de Dave D redondeó la actuación con el objetivo de anular la que le había regalado en el otro extremo.Con todo, otra buena actuación.

An organised performance
by the Isles against an understrength Argentina at San Ignacio led to a comfortable win. Two early goals settled the nerves, with Mike getting his goal for the season with the score 3-0 at the break. A tougher second half followed but the team held firm as players were tried in different positions. Penalties were exchanged in the second half, to give a highly satisfying 4-1 final result.
Una actuación organizada por las islas frente a una understrength Argentina en San Ignacio llevó a una cómoda victoria. Dos goles tempraneros se establecieron los nervios, con Mike conseguir su objetivo para la temporada con el marcador 3-0 en el descanso. A medio segundo más difícil pero el equipo siguió se mantuvo firme como jugadores fueron juzgados en diferentes posiciones. Las penaltis se intercambiaron en la segunda mitad, para dar un resultado muy satisfactorio 4-1 final.

Let the new season commence!
The Atlantic Islands football club starts its new season on Sunday 12 September 2010 with a friendly against Argentina.This is followed the week after by a training session on Saturday 18 September.
With new players in the squad, the competition of places is hotting up with all looking to impress the new management team of Dave and Amalio.
El club de fútbol de las Islas Atlánticas comienza su nueva temporada el domingo 12 de septiembre 2010 con un amistoso contra Argentina.
A esto le sigue una semana después de una sesión de entrenamiento el sábado 18 de septiembre.
Con los nuevos jugadores en el plantel, el concurso de plazas es calentando con todos los que buscan impresionar al nuevo equipo de gestión de Dave y Amalio.
Atlantikoko Uharteak futbol taldeak bere denboraldi berria hasiko da igandea, 12 Iraila 2010 Argentina aurkako lagunarteko harremanetan.

End of the tournament
Congratulations to Paraguay, worthy winners of the Mundialito. It is odd that our best result came against the best team of the tournament.

Match report; Morocco 8 - 0 Atlantic Isles
A weakened Isles team came face to face with reality when playing a motivated Morocco team who needed a good win to qualify and perhaps win the group.
Starting with Luisan back in goal, Gavin, Tim, Dave D, and Txus along the back, Martin, Pedro, Peter, and Michael in the midfield, and Chema and Lucas up front, the team were soon under the cosh. Raking passes overpowered the full-backs, with the Isles playing too high a line and being caught out for pace.
On a day when all went right for Morocco, their luck was illustrated by one goal that hit a player who had his back to the ball and goal, another deflected in off the head of a player lying injured on the ground.
Substitute entries by Amalio, Antonio, Niall, and Darragh was not enough to step the flow, and worse followed when Darragh ended up in plaster following a nasty collision.
So ended another tournament, and Morocco will face Colombia in a repeat of last year's final in the next round.
Once again, we would like to thank the support that turned up again, including ex-players, injured current players, families, and varioushooligans friends from the English speaking community.
