AIFC 4 - 1 Argentina

Just to prove that lightening does strike twice (even if Mike does not), the Isles returned their second successive 4 - 1 result against Argentina. A controlled first have led to a 2 goal advantage, with Marco and Peter getting the goals.

With the substitution of James through injury, the second half became less structured, but James had already added a third (thanks Urtzi) before Dave D rounded off the performance with a goal to cancel out the one he had given away at the other end.

All in all, another good performance.

Besterik ez lightening duten greba frogatzeko aldiz (nahiz eta Mike ez), Uharte itzulitako euren bigarren segidako 4 - Argentina kontra 1 emaitza. A kontrolatutako lehen izan ere, 2 gol abantaila ekarri, Marco eta Peter helburuak lortu dituzten.James ordezkatzea haien bidez, bigarren zatian izan zen gutxiago egituratuta dago, baina James jada gehitu hirugarren bat (eskerrik asko Urtzi) Dave D osatzeko aurretik errendimendua helburu batekin kanpo uzteko bat zuen lagatuko beste amaieran.Azken batean, beste portaera ona.

  1. Well played everyone,a good result considering that today we had the bare 11.2 out of 2.What does that mean for the players coming back.Good game Brian means Dave Williams is going to have work,Marco great game up front along with the help of Mike and Peter.Another solid game from Pedro in the middle of the park, whose great run culminated in the 1st goal, scored by Marco. The 2nd scored by Peter(with his right foot)after a defence splitting pass from James just before half time meant the Atlantic Isles came off with a deserved advantage.James despite what appears to be a hamstring injury he had in the 1st half continued and lobbed a beautiful 3rd over the outcoming Argentine defence after a rare mistake by Urtxi, under pressure from Mike. The Argentines pulled 1 back midway through the 2nd half before Dave D come Caveman come Manager as well as anything else he percieves himself as,scored a clinical 4th after bringing the ball out of defence, rounding the complete Argentine team, cutting back into his own half(just to really take the piss),laying the ball off to whoever, continuing his run while screaming like a banshee and burying a right footed shot from the edge of the box, people it does not get much better than that.Martin,Alfredo,The Big FLYNN,Tim(Mr Honest)TREsomethingorother,Txus well played.Onwards and Upwards lads.Man of the Match,Pedro.

  2. Tony, I think your match report, excellent as it was (specially the bit about me..LOL), was a little "blind" to one quite determinate factor in the game; THE REF.
My re-"view" leads me to the conculsion that the ref made some superb decisions today and 99% of his judgments contained "glimpses" of genius, "slanting" toward the utopian and adding a different "perspective" to the match completely... but in the "blink of an eyelid" (ahem!..the ref's) a mistake was made:
Having a "blinder" of a game up to that point, the majestic right back was subjected to a heinous decision by the man in black (eye patch?). He was reduced to "tears", "rubbing his eyes in disbelief" at the carriage of misjustice that had just happened to him. The cheating hand of cod Argie winger "winked" as he collected the ball from it's position on the WRONG SIDE of the byline, "eyeballed" the long lost brother of Maldini right back, and carried on his way down the byline whilst "observing" the ref with a smug "gaze".
GOOD GAME TONY... Just keep an eye on those offsides!! LOL!!!

  4. Saturday 2nd October saw a rampant Atlantic Isles secure there 3rd victory this season with a 9-3 win over a group of 20somethings(although at times they acted like spoilt teenagers)from Romo. The Atlantic Isles got into their stride very quickly opening up a 2-0 lead within 10 minutes. The Atlantic Isles as usual being marshalled by captain Tim Tregenza at center half with the immovable Martin Stanley by his side never looked like conceding a goal until the Referee made what was his only mistake in the game blew for a penalty after a ball winning tackle by Martin(who left his foot in,resulting in contact after the ball had gone)just before the close of the first half. The penalty was duly buried, not that it changed much as The Atlantic Isles had doubled their early advantage to go into the break 4-1 up.The start of the second half saw some changes to The ATlantic Isles line up the most significant being Dave the Caveman for Jon Flynn in goal.A dominant 2nd half display saw the lead increased to an isurmountable 9-1.Two late goals by the opposition giving us the final result.Goalscorers-Lucas 2,Mike 2,Txus 2,Marco 2,Pedro 1. Man of the Match Martin STANLEY.WELL PLAYED ALL.

Over the last few games the team actually looks like "a team" whilst playing now. People are playing well in their determined positions and are very aware of their responsibilities. The introduction of a couple of new players has improved competition for places and has everyone giving their all. Good stuff!!
I think we are all thinking the same at the moment; bring on some better opposition and see how we get on. Let's see how we do on Saturday against a skilled "sevens" team (hope they remember to bring eleven men!!).
Ref is definitely improving as each game passes, we'll all be able to say "he used to ref our matches, I know that p**f" whilst watching the Barca-Madrid"game of the millenium/century/decade...blah blah bla" Good stuff Tony! Not bad match reports either... :)
P.S. Did you all notice the strip William was wearing? Poor bugger, he's in for a life of misery supporting the mags and the lions... ah well...
