Order of games in the Mudialito 2010

OK, so we play Paraguay first, then Cameroon, then Morocco. Our scouts tell us that Paraguay are a well organied physical team. That will be hard first up.

Squad Profile: Marcos

Marcos is an experienced midfielder who brings strength and solidity to the middle of the park. He has yet to work out how he got conned into playing in a team quite so bad as this, and spends most of his game trying to understand the unique positional sense of the Atlantic Isles.

Squad Profile: Darragh

An experienced defender, Darragh brings in a strong tehnique. Unfortunately the technique he brings in is from Gaelic Games. As a result, the penalty count has gone up somewhat.

Squad Profile: Dave W

In other, less gifted tournaments the hot-shot footballers compete for the golden boot. For the Atlantic Isles, Dave W won the equivalent; the plastic stiletto. Dave won this for his scintillating finish during the tournament, skilfully putting the ball in the net with his classy touch and positioning. Only problem was, it was in the wrong goal.

All we need to know now is who will seize the prize for best marksman in the 2010 tournament.

The successful team against Brazil

Atlantic Isles 4 - 3 Brazil

A hattrick from Lucas and a goal from Txema sealed an impressive victory from the Atlantic Isles today in Munabe. In brilliant sunshine a good team effort meant that the attacking flair of the Brazilians was negated for much of the game.

Site update

I have put on a role of honour on the page with photos of all who have played for AIFC. I am missing only Rory I think. Even Edmund is there!!!

No easy groups

It is strange. I attended the draw for the Leioa world cup (mundialito) tonight and was on tenterhooks the entire time. We were "con ganas" during the draw, and of course ended up in the group of death.

Thing is, I do not care. To play 11 a side football in a competitive environment is for me the dogs bollocks. I do not care if we are hammered. We are playing proper football with a referee in front of a crowd (up to 3000 people if last year is anything to go by!).

Bring it on. I cannot wait.

We tried to fix the draw, but it did not work!

Squad Profile: Tim the Centre Half

With the turning circle of the RMS Queen Mary and the mobility of Wurzel Gummidge, Tim displays all the traits of a classic English defender. Makes up for deficiencies by shouting a lot.

Squad Profile: Jon the goalie

Regular goalkeeper Jon does not engage in warm-up activities, he follows the old fashioned English approach of lighting up instead. Famed for picking the ball out of the net with dog-end between lips, he will be sorely missed from this year's tournament being ruled out by the technical problem of having only one serviceable leg.

Squad Profile: Brian the Manager

Incomprehensible to all, Brian was a surprise selection to the post of El Mister. His appointment was viewed as a great boost for the team when it was discovered that as manager he would not be playing.

17 April 2010 - Next game v Brazil

The next step in the fine tuning of the AIFC is a revenge match against the might of Brazil.

The game kicks off at 4pm at Munabe.
